The family of Maple Batalia, the 19-year-old actress and aspiring doctor who was shot dead in the Surrey SFU campus parkade early Tuesday morning, allege she was having troubles with a jealous ex-boyfriend. On Thursday morning, RCMP said about 40 to 50 officers were working on the homicide, but investigators have yet to say if they have any suspects in the case, or if they believe the attack was random or targeted. The young woman’s father, Harkirat Batalia, said she had recently told her family she was having problems with an ex-boyfriend. “She had been complaining that a few days back, I think it was in a Tim Hortons where she was sitting with friends, it turned out to be that he [showed up] there. Wow that same week i was in surrey ppl died around where i was she was one a girl hung her self not to far from the mall where she died then i hear about other ppl dying that same week

im sorry for your loss its so heartbreaking to see how this has a ripple effect to her family and friends. I had a friend i went to school with and i lost touch with and bumped into one of our friends and i was told she had died. A drunk driver hit her and her car was found in a ditch w/her inside her car. Her friends went looking for her and couldnt find her because she left the party early. I was so baffled. I sat next to her in class and to hear that they were killed just broke my heart.
im a frequent CTV watcher so when i saw her father talking about what kind of person she was made me sad to hear someone commit such a terrible act to an inocent person
